Tibetan prayer flags are among the best-known symbols of Tibetan culture. Their five colours, blue, white, red, green and yellow, stand for sky, wind, fire, water and earth and together embody the harmony of all the forces that sustain life. Each flag is printed with mantras, prayers and blessings, often also with the wind horse Lungta. When the wind moves the flags, so the belief goes, it carries the prayers in all directions, for the benefit of all beings.
Our prayer flags are made by hand by Tibetan artisans in the Himalayas. They are printed with traditional wooden blocks, following designs that have remained unchanged for centuries. Because each flag is stamped individually, each shows small differences in the print. Since the quality of dyes and fabric varies greatly, we only carry flags with lightfast colours, in cotton and in a weatherproof version for outdoor use.
In the garden, on the balcony, in the meditation room or as colourful decoration in the living room: prayer flags bring Tibetan tradition into everyday life without fuss. For outdoors, we recommend our weatherproof outdoor flags. For indoor spaces, we offer specially designed indoor prayer flags that unfold their beauty and meaning even without wind.
