Tibetan prayer flags are colourful rectangular fabrics traditionally made of cotton and used in Tibetan Buddhism. They are decorated with Buddhist symbols, prayers and mantras and are hoisted in front of houses, temples and along mountain passes in the Himalayas. The purpose of the prayer flags is to bless the environment and promote peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. It is believed that the prayers and mantras printed on the flags are carried across the land by the wind, imparting goodwill and compassion to all beings. It is also seen as a way to bring luck and success to the owner of the flag.

Since traditional Tibetan prayer flags are handmade using traditional woodblock printing techniques, the print visibility and clarity on flags may vary. The prayer flags have 5 individual flag leaves and are approx. 125 cm long.
