The Endless Knot or Eternal Knot is a symbolic knot and one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols. It is an important symbol in Buddhism. It symbolizes Samsara, i.e. the endless cycle of suffering of birth, death, and rebirth in Tibetan Buddhism, and the intertwining of wisdom and compassion. It also interprets the Buddha's wisdom, which is said to have neither a beginning nor an end, and the inseparability of emptiness (Śūnyatā) and dependent origination (Pratītya-Samutpāda), which is the underlying reality of existence.
