Handcrafted Tibetan Kartika ritual knife with Dorje handle. Buddhist symbol of liberation. Brass and iron. Made by Tibetan artisans in Nepal, 16cm.
The Kartika, the crescent-shaped ritual knife, is a powerful symbol in Tibetan Buddhism. It represents the severance of all material and worldly bonds that keep us from spiritual freedom. In the hand of Shinjé Shed Yamantaka, the conqueror of death, it symbolises the overcoming of ignorance and attachment.
This Kartika is crafted by Tibetan artisans in Nepal from brass and iron. The handle is crowned with a Dorje, the diamond sceptre that destroys ignorance and points the way to enlightenment. The combination of Kartika and Dorje unites cutting wisdom with indestructible spiritual power.
As a meditation object or altar item, the Kartika reminds us of the necessity to release limiting patterns and cultivate inner freedom.
